Since 1986 BFGoodrich Tires have been the tire brand on the Overall winning four wheeled vehicle in the SCORE Baja 1000. Well with Robby Gordon's Overall Victory in this years Baja 1000 Toyo Tires has now taken the crown from BFG.
While there is no doubt that BFG IS one of the best off-road tires made today it would seem that the waves of change are coming. With brands such as Toyo, Nitto, Kumho, Goodyear, Firestone, and many others now making off-road tires, and as such off-road race tires it may be time for the tried and true BFG to start making changes as the competition is now gaining ground on them.
Now you could argue that this was all just a fluke, Robby is a great driver and can win on any tire he runs, which as been proven with all his other wins being on BFGoodrich tires.
Only time will tell if the reign of a champion is finally over, or if this was just a one time deal and BFG will be back on top of Baja next year.
